How much is the stipend for the incubation program?

The stipend is PKR 20,000 per month per co-founder for up to 4 co-founders for teams opting for the program Incubation with Stipend.

The only way you can get financial, technical or any other kind of support from LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship is if you are a part of the incubated startups at LCE. For that, you can always apply for incubation/acceleration and get your required support if you get selected.

There is no age limit. Entrepreneurs from all kinds of age and backgrounds are welcome to apply.

What kind of support can I get from LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship if I opt for incubation?

Incubation offers a co-working space, a monthly stipend to up to 4 co-founders for the four months of the incubation program, regular mentoring sessions, networking opportunities, access to LCE management, marketing and PR support, access to LUMS facilities and faculty and last but not the least, access to investors.

What is the difference between incubation and acceleration?

Incubation is a four-month resident program where startups get co-working space, financial support, marketing and PR support, networking opportunities, regular mentoring sessions and access to investors.

In Acceleration, a startup does not get an office space and financial support. It also has limited access to mentoring. Rest of the facilities are the same.

If you succeed in getting incubated at The Foundation, you will get a co-working space in LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship, office utilities, a monthly stipend, access to LUMS facilities such as labs and libraries, access to LUMS faculty, marketing and PR support, regular mentoring from seasoned businessmen and access to investors.

Why do you have equity in incubated startups?

We have a percentage of equity in each startup so that we have a vested interest in the startup which means that we stay connected with our startups even after they graduate and connect them with investors and mentors regularly. The door is always open for startups to seek guidance and support from LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship.

Our online application gives you a chance to pitch your business idea and get a chance of funding at the end of the incubation program. Please know that you can only get the opportunity of pitching to the investors if you are one of our incubated startups.

What is the Plug n Play Center? How can I be a part of it?

Plug n Play Center is one of the future programs of LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship which will be a co-working space around LUMS, envisioned to serve as a bridge platform for the graduates of The Foundation until the companies start generating positive cashflows or raise funding and can afford independent offices.

Since it is still under development, startups cannot join it. However, you can subscribe to our newsletter where any further developments in this program will be communicated to you.

What are the contractual obligations if I opt for the incubation/acceleration program?

When you enter into a contract with LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship, you will be obligated to abide by the administration rules or LUMS and LCE which includes maintaining the decorum of the place and minimum attendance requirement etc. Moreover, you are also required to achieve certain milestones during the four months of the incubation to be able to qualify as an LCE graduate and to pitch at the Investors Summit.

Can students apply for the incubation program?

Yes, students can apply, provided they are ready to commit full time to their venture and to LCE and does not have schedules of their classes clashing with the program. However, we encourage that you apply after you have graduated as it shows full-time commitment.

Moreover, the startup should be led by a team of passionate, committed entrepreneurs who should be willing to be based in Lahore for the four months of the incubation program.

What is a scouting season? How does it work?

The Foundation business incubator and accelerator at LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship hosts three batches of startups a years, namely Spring, Summer and Winter. For each batch, LCE scouts visit various universities and nationwide business competitions and events to identify promising, high-growth startups to bring them together on a competitive platform. The founders are then invited to meet with LCE’s Foundation Council at its next meeting.

What is Entrepreneurial Working Group?

Entrepreneurial Working Group was formed to bring together various stakeholders from the industry and other institutions to advise on the formation of Center for Entrepreneurship. EWG comprises of management and faculty of LUMS and other educational institutions and prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs from Lahore. The members continue to meet once a month to review the progress of LCE and provide strategic advice and guidance to the LCE management.

What is The Foundation Council?

The Foundation Council is a group of successful entrepreneurs, leading businesspersons and professionals of Pakistan. The council members work together with the management of LCE to scrutinize startups for admission into The Foundation; review their progress throughout the incubation period and provide guidance and advice to the founders.

What is the process of induction into the incubation/acceleration program in LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship?

Startups are required to submit their business idea through our online application. Once submitted, the applications are vetted, short interviews are conducted and the shortlisted ones are forwarded to the last step, where these startups are required to pitch their idea in front of The Foundation Council.
