Women Leadership Programme

Women Leadership Programme

Empowering Women in Leadership

The Women’s Leadership Programme was a pioneering initiative by LUMS, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The programme empowered women in Pakistan’s textile industry through leadership development, professional skills-building, peer learning, and mentorship.

The Mission

The programme focused on equipping women with the skills, confidence, and networks to lead, innovate, and advance within their workplaces and communities.

  • 216 women graduated from five major textile clusters across Pakistan.

  • 25 women received promotions across 7 participating factories.

  • 97% of surveyed participants reported mentoring or supporting other women after

    completing the programme.

Participants reported significant or transformational improvement in key skills, including communication (63%), decision-making (60%), strategic thinking (60%), and negotiation (60%).

The 20-month programme concluded in May 2026, with a closing ceremony celebrating 216 women leaders from Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, Multan, and Faisalabad.

Why It Matters

The Women’s Leadership Programme reflects our commitment to empowering women as agents of change. By nurturing leadership skills and creating opportunities for advancement, we aim to contribute to a more equitable and innovative future.
